Helpful Resources for Job Searching: Search Yourself

It seems like a whole lotta friends have been switching things up with work lately. In my own search I have noticed that much of the job "search" has been searching inside of myself. Rather than simply finding a job, I've wanted something that I am deeply interested in, where I can be a strong contributor and that I can learn and grow through.

The following things have helped me in the job search/soul search process.

  1. Keep a folder of interests and passions
    • If there is a company you know you love, print it out, save it in a document or pin it on a Pinterest Board about it. I've done all three of those. Seeing the common threads between the different pieces that I've printed out, posted and pasted has helped me know clearly what I would really love to work with.  "Knowing is half the battle" but definitely the right place to start.
  2. Know your personal strengths

"There are many gifts, and to every man is given a gift by the Spirit of God.
To some is given one, and to some is given another, that all may be profited thereby."

"Let us kneel and talk with our Heavenly Father,
learn about our gifts and talents, find ways to develop them
make choices based on who we are and what we have been given
come to an understanding of what we are to accomplish here in mortality,
and make the choices to bring it about."

If other resources have helped you identify your interests or strengths, as always feel free to share.
